The first time I attempted this record, it stood at 28 fire sword catches in 30 seconds. The flames licked at the edges of my vision, adrenaline pumping as I defied the heat. But I was able to get 29 catches, despite dropping the sword on a wooden deck, igniting it in a blaze. The crowd gasped, and I felt the singe of victory. But Guinness ended up disqualifying the attempt since it was during the first 30 seconds of the 1-minute version of the record. They did approve the 1-minute record, but my eyes were still set on the elusive 30-second mark.
I thought I was in the clear when I achieved 57 spins in 2020, but then someone else got 60. The fire danced around me, mocking my efforts. In my quest to hold the most concurrent Guinness World Records, here’s #166.
I doused the sword in lighter fluid and spun it around to get it going, flames roaring like a dragon’s breath. But it flew out of my hands, searing my skin. I picked it up, my other hand losing all its hair. The countdown began—3, 2, 1, go! The sword spun as fast as I could muster, the roar of rushing fire drowning out everything else. After 30 seconds, 73 complete rotations and catches were completed, and I let out a triumphant “C’mon!”
