Speedy Chopsticks – An Idaho Collaboration

A Record-Breaking Alliance: Speed, Beards, and Chopsticks

A Natural Pairing:  Joel Strasser and I, David Rush, are two of Idaho’s most prolific Guinness World Record holders. Our collaboration was almost inevitable. Joel’s iconic beard has been the foundation for numerous records, and my forte in speed-based challenges has earned its stripes. It was time our paths converged for an unprecedented record attempt.

The Challenge: The mission was to set a record for the most chopsticks placed in a beard in one minute. This wasn’t about sheer quantity; it was a race against time, blending Joel’s ‘most objects’ beard records with my velocity-verified track record.

The Stage Is Set: Amidst the excitement of Joel and Garrett’s participation in this season of Amazing Race. We broke the record at a watch party a few weeks ago and just last night they had a narrow escape from elimination on Season 35 of The Amazing Race –  clinching 7th place out of 8th place when they were sure they were out (11/8).

The Record Attempt: At an Amazing Race watch party, the stage was set. With Joel’s beard as the canvas and a spread of 140 chopsticks before us, Garrett and I embarked on a swift alternation of precision and pace. Each chopstick was a testament to our synergy, and as the clock ticked, we were in perfect sync.

The Result: The final count was a gripping moment, with 110 chopsticks initially claimed by the beard. However, adherence to the stringent standards saw 6 disqualified, leaving us with a groundbreaking 104 in the beard — all within the span of one intense (and possibly bloody) minute.

The Celebration: This record is more than a notch on our belts. It’s a celebration of unity, skill, and the quirky corners of record-breaking. For Joel and Garrett, it’s another week on The Amazing Race, and for us, it’s proof that when idiosyncrasies align, history is made.

The Future: As we look forward to more adrenaline-filled Wednesdays, cheering on Joel and Garrett, we also bask in the glory of our shared triumph. We have submitted the evidence to Guinness and are waiting to hear back on the final result.
