Hey everyone, David “Record Breaker” Rush here! You know me as the guy with the most Guinness World Records titles. Today, I’ve got a new story for you. Spoiler alert: It wasn’t as easy as it looked (or was it)!
The record for the most balloons burst with boxing gloves in one minute was 33, then 37. Sounds simple, right? Well, that’s what I thought too. I get comments all the time saying, “That looks so easy!” With over a billion views on my records, I’ve heard it a lot. But trust me, by the time I break it, it’s usually anything but easy.
First, I had to apply to find out the official rules. Did the balloons have to be big? Far apart? Made of Kevlar? Why were so few balloons broken? I got the application from Guinness and guess what? None of the above. It really was that easy.
But I practiced anyway. I punched walls, popped balloons, and even got my kids involved. When it was time to make the attempt, we gathered the crew, inflated the balloons, and taped them to the wall. It took 60 times longer to set them up than to pop them, so I had to make the official attempt count. I double-checked the application right before and found out the record had been broken again! It was now 68… or was it 80?
After a 3, 2, 1, go, I started punching. Left, right, left, right, as fast as I could. Balloons popped everywhere. I kept going, strike after strike. Some balloons popped off the wall, but I didn’t stop until the full minute was up. I didn’t hear the time called, so I kept going a bit more. The last few didn’t count, but in that minute, I managed to burst 327 balloons. Not so easy anymore, huh? C’mon!
Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for more record-breaking adventures! And spoiler alert: this record may be getting even less easy soon!
