Ninja Chopsticks

Chopsticks and Bullseyes: Record-Breaking Adventure at Guinness World Records HQ

Ever tried eating sushi with chopsticks? I hurl those same chopsticks at a target 4 meters away, aiming for the bullseye, and did it 29 times in a minute. Welcome to my world!

The Backstory

A while back, I set the Guinness World Record for the most target hits with chopsticks in one minute, landing 19 hits. But records are made to be broken, and soon, someone upped the ante with 21 hits. Challenge accepted!

The Setup

Fast forward to last year at Guinness World Records headquarters in London. The target? A 70 cm archery target placed 4 meters away. But here’s the twist: only hits in the inner gold and red circles count. The blue, black, and white rings? Just there for decoration. To put it in perspective, the gold (inner 10-ring) is about 12.2 cm in diameter—roughly the size of a DVD.

Game On

With the ever-vigilant Guinness adjudicator Will Munford overseeing the attempt, I took my position. One minute on the clock. Deep breath. Go!

Chopsticks flew. One after another, they sailed through the air, finding their mark in the coveted gold and red zones. The rhythm was almost meditative, each successful hit fueling the next.

The Outcome

When the dust settled and the chopsticks stopped quivering, the count was in: 29 chopsticks had struck and stuck in the target’s scoring zones. Record reclaimed!

Reflections

Who knew that the humble chopstick could be a tool of such precision and skill?

To anyone inspired to embark on their own quirky record-breaking quest: dream big, practice hard, and maybe keep a stash of chopsticks handy. You never know when they’ll come in useful!
