Hey there, it’s David Rush here, your go-to guy for all things record-breaking! Today, I want to share with you a story at’s not just about setting records, but about the unexpected  power of connections.

The Most Alternate Fist Bumps in 30 Seconds

It started with a simple question: “Who wants to bumps fists for a record?” I reached out to my record-breaking neighbor, Jonathan “Hollywood” Hannon. Hollywood declined but suggested his son Joey. We practiced for days and managed to tap fists 273 times, which got millions of views and even caught the attention ofAmerica’s Got Talent.

Then came the next big break. I flew out to Pasadena to meet with Howie Mandel, the most famous germaphobe with a whopping 15 million followers. Despite some judges’ skepticism, Howie and I smashed the record with 380 fist bumps in just 30 seconds.

The Unexpected Twist

But the surprises didn’t stop there. Doctor Mike invited me to chat on his podcast about word records. After an hour of juggling topics from juggling axes to lemon juice challenges, he dropped a bombshell: he and Howie were good buddies. And since he was also an amateur boxer, he suggested we try to break Howie’s fist bump record.

I hadn’t practiced at all, but we went for it. The result? A surprising 397 fist bumps in 30 seconds! Howie’s record count went from 1 to 0, and Doctor Mike’s went from 0 to 1. My total remained at 177 since I technically stole the record from myself. But I’m still on track to hold the most Guinness World Records titles at 181!
